Posted by Airtek on YouTube, this is a fantastic snapshot of an earlier era. I did visit the Hinchliffe shop at some point in the 80's and regret not picking up a TSR John Carter of Mars ruleset that was hidden away under a table. A great chance to see some of the old legends of the hobby including the sculptor Peter Gilder...

An excellent video, thank you for a fantastic historical modelling adventure.
ReplyDeleteWow just nostalgia at its best, I now need a time machine to go back for a visit
to the shop.
Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming,
Willz Harley.

ReplyDeleteThanks for a blast from the past
ReplyDeleteVery interesting indeed...
ReplyDeleteAll the best. Aly
A nice piece of wargaming history. I can just feel that Northern sleet in the opening shots.. Cheers Greg (Delta Coy Blog)

ReplyDeleteBrilliant, remember those days well, and the two powerhouses in the UK industry Hinchliffe and Minifigs.
ReplyDeleteHinchliffe had a fantastic stock and excellent turn round on orders, later we stocked Minifigs, due to customer requests.
But problem was the availability of minifigs, they would cast riders for certain ranges and not enough horses or camels!
One customer held our store responsible, and drive all the way down to Southampton, to find there were none at the factory, and was sent away with a flea in his ear.
Neville customer relations skills were legendary....
