Wonderful old resin company back in the day.....also cast in dental plaster (thanks Chirine) so not sure at the moment if just smaller pieces were resin or if they moved into resin later etc. Info appreciated!

I got a batch of these sets back in '84, when they were being done in plaster - dental stone, I think - and being sold in white foam take-away boxes. I can shoot photos, if you like; in the meantime, may I download your images to figure out which specific items I have? Thanks!

ReplyDeleteWow! This is a blast from the past. I knew Chris Bulis as I used to frequent his shop when I was 10. I remember when he first launched his range and we used them in our Tunnels and Trolls games he ran above the shop.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I splashed out with my very first paycheck on the fortified manor house. Sadly fifteen years of happy gaming took its toll in the end and the model is no longer with me. So much fun to build though. Thank you so much for posting this!
ReplyDeleteGlad to bring back the memories Matthew. I had the Wizards Towers set but sold it on to a young lad who used to frequent the Manchester Games Workshop where I worked in the early 80s.

ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about this post. I remember Chris's father was a dentist, hence the dental resin he used. Chris ran a shop in Shoreham-by-Sea, called Fine Lines. He sold, books, cards, stationery, comics, D&D books and lead minitatures. He was always working on these great diaroma's for the shop window, painting the figues and designing the dungeon scene. That's where he got the idea for the modelling pieces. He did floors, walls, ceilings, doors, stairs to begin with, then as he got into it, he launched Otherworld Artifacts and sold the shop. He had a degree in architetcture, if I remember correctly. I was totally in love with his sister too! (I was about 14/15 and she was at uni, so only appeared during holidays to work a bit in the shop. I'd always find an excuse to loiter when she was there :)
