Anvil Magazine & Kev Adams Interview

Quick post after finishing the night shift..........found my old Anvil mag yesterday.......they still owe me the subs from the copies that were never released back then....grrrrr. Back from 1994.......

This was distributed in the UK by Grendel Productions.....most of whose lines were picked up by a company now known as Scotia Grendel Productions....check them out, brilliant figures, diorama bits and accessories etc.

John Carter, Warlord of Mars......1975 Grenadier style....

Quick post before I go and pick the children up from after school clubs. Parcel just arrived from the US of A which included a bunch of these early unlicensed sculpts. Some of them got moved into their Gamma World line as 'Knights of Purity' once they realised the Burroughs's Foundation wanted a licensing fee... oops. If anyone has any further information on the line please let me know as I have no listings etc

These pics below were donated by a hobby friend 'J'. I am on the lookout for these so please let me know if you have any for trade.

Note I have this one pictured up above however this one has a leaf blade to the spear - all my examples are cast without it.

What Does Games Workshop Mean To You.........

Miscellaneous bits from 1982 and 1983... my youth calls out to me...

I was working in the Manchester shop around this time... wonderful time spent earning very little but in charge of miniatures...

I think this was the one where the Archive Miniatures were cast up and blistered as a test... I've mentioned this previously and would appreciate something else verifying this!

The early days of lead heaven...

But lo and behold there was still Asgard...

and they were licensed to produce Dragontooth... please let me know if you have any form of marketing material or packaging for this release! I never got them at the time but am trying to comple my collection now. Still gaps to fill if you have any!

The sculpting and painting phenomenon that is Tony Yates sculpted a multitude of minis for Plastiform in the early 80s... please let me know if you have any form of listing!

As always; enquiries@deartonyblair.co.uk

Here was how I rolled in the early 80s... the years have amended me but not in a good way...

Updated WIPs part one zillion..............

Finished the Hinchliffe Goblins barring the varnishing bit......Peter Gilder will be turning in his grave....something not quite finished......my photography skills are also showing a lack of something....

The Hinchliffe Giant joins the painting queue.....

A set of Orc musicians from 1994....released by a company called Fantascenes. Apparently now owned by Games Figures Inc. who are no longer trading for now....grrrrr. They had a great range of amusing figs such as peasants showings their butts etc. More info once I find it.....

Joy of joys the Creepy Mouth Monster has arrived on my doorstep. The madness that is Paul Gargon sculpts these guys...check out his Facebook page here.

As Paul has realised my painting queue is long and temperamental however the Sad Clown has at last been started......note the first casting number!!

A little bit of Tom Meier goodness.....15mm sculpts that I will never even attempt to paint...my eyesight is just not up to the task. Just incredible. Check out Khurasan Miniatures website here.

and finally another wonderful gem of a find......the craziness that is Tony Yates sculpted this back in the 80s. I believe it is from Heroes Miniatures but have yet to successfully id it....if you can help please email me at enquiries@deartonyblair.co.uk.

Unreleased Star Wars part 2...

You will never guess what I found at a boot sale at the weekend just gone......a small box of lead miniatures, most of which were nice......but I had to hide my joy at finding a Citadel unreleased Stormtrooper.....God alone knows how he managed to end up in that little pile of lead....I have to say I didn't point anything out to the seller who just said 'old Warhammer I was told, not mine....' The only thing I know is that Citadel went for a licence that was never granted and only a handful of figures were sculpted. Two Stormtroopers that I am aware of. Anyway..... pic below and a link to the old Archive Star Wars minis here.

That's it for now. Still shaking..................

Before Judge Dredd there was no law.......only WIPS.....

A couple of oldish Tony Yates sculpts I picked up a few years back on a bring & buy. Thought they seemed very Judge Dredd like so I painted them that way......a lot of WIPs and bits below them....

Beautiful little lady...had to replace the sword with a steel pin as I dropped her...doh!

Update on the above minis. They are part of a range that was never released. More once I get to the bottom of it!

Came across this little gem when tidying.....an old 6mm Games Workshop Battlecars buggy.

Wonderfully large and chunky Nevile Stocken sculpt for his Archive Miniatures Runequest line; 816 Inhuman King. I never seem to finish anything but maybe one day......

Cracking old Citadel Perry sculpts from the very early 80s that were converted for test playing Rogue Trader...the forerunner of Warhammer 40K, that little known gothic SF game.....Wargames Foundry found the moulds for these and had them as a giveaway at a recent open day.

A comparison with the original Citadel FF 65 Ferocious Man Fish. Get in contact with Marcus at Wargames Foundry as he may be able slip one or two in your order if you ask nicely. Top bloke.

A Black Tree Design Russian maxim gun team and 3 Plastic Soldier infantry.....now all based and undercoated....to go with the earlier posted maxim team once I get around to it....

A piece I picked up at Salute earlier this year....a vignette of the 'infamous' conference at Yalta

A friend sent me a selection of wonderful plastic Japanese sculpts by Takeya Takayuki.....not sure whether to thank him or curse him as they are so nice I may have to collect them all........

Snake demon tormenting a soul.........

the soul in torment....

Multi part plastic that slots together easily

Need to identify these Doctor Who Sontaron types......f you could all put your thinking caps on and email me at enquiries@deartonyblair.co.uk it would help! The base marking state 'BAKERLOO' so a Google search tends to bring up a zillion hits on London's Bakerloo underground line....doh!

Update - Niklas from Sweden has identified these from  the April 1987 issue of Miniature Wargames. They are listed on a 'Stratagem' Advertisement as 'SF Figures' ,Space Marines SF (I think) 1 - 4. Thanks Niklas!

Also these 2....could be early Tony Yates but not sure.....

Update - the guy on the left is by Tony and is a Heroes Miniatures' GH39 Masked Henchman with Rifle.

and finally for now a small selection of Kinder Egg dwarves...the full set can be seen over at Stunties.
